Green Pond is a relatively easy hike with a gentle up hill grade. At about ¾ of a mile from the trailhead, you reach Green Pond. It’s a small lake that has water year-round. There is a picnic table there. Kids like to play in the water. Continuing on past Green Pond you quickly reach the junction of Snowbasin Trail 11 (Green Pond) and Trail 12. Go left on the Trail 11 Green Pond and at about 2 miles from the trailhead you will cross the Strawberry Gondola access road. The Green Pond trail continues across the road and in about another mile you reach the junction with the Needles Trail and the end of the Green Pond Trail. Prior to reaching the Needles Trail there is a junction with Last Chance Trail which leads to other areas of Snowbasin. At the access road you can also choose to turn left (south) and in about a half a mile you reach the Strawberry Gondola. In the winter this makes a great snowshoe as the Gondola has a restroom and food available to buy as well as picnic tables if you bring a lunch. In the summer the restrooms are usually not open, but the picnic table(s) are usually available, and you can get out of the sun in the gondola house. Overall Green Pond is a family friendly hike to the pond and is a nice hike for everyone to go past the pond to Strawberry. Round trip to Strawberry is about 5 miles.
