National Trails Day

National Trails Day

Each year on the first Saturday in June, American Hiking Society hosts National Trails Day which takes place on and near trails all across the country’s public lands. The nation’s largest trails event, National Trails Day is a day of public events aimed at promotion, conservation, stewardship, and trail service. Thousands of outdoor enthusiasts including, hiker, bikers, runners, federal & local agencies, land trusts, and businesses come together in partnership to promote, maintain, and to learn best practices of trail clean up and more.

On Saturday, June 3, 2023, Trails Foundation of Northern Utah joined in the national event, hosting roughly 20 different local organizations, clubs and businesses to celebrate locally, this national day celebration of Trails. This year, our local event was held at ENVE Composites West Ogden location. This location was perfect as the Trackline Bike Park, and Ogden Kayak Parks are right there for anyone who wanted to play. Many local trail users admitted not knowing that either of these gems existed in Ogden.

This year’s national theme for the day was to leave the trail and the outdoor community better than we found them. With demonstrations and presentations by participating groups, this well attended free event, did just that. Every vendor, every group came together with the single goal of connecting more people to trails. As a highlight of the event, TFNU was also honored to present the 2nd annual Richard S. White Friend of the Trails award to a member of the community who embodies the spirit of the trails through service, dedication and leadership. This year, we were proud to present Jerome Berg with this honor at the close of our celebration.

A huge shout out and thanks to each and every group that participated or donated to our giveaways as well as to Weber County RAMP for their additional support. Our community cares about our local trails and it shows.

It’s about the trails and we look forward to to celebrating this annual event with you again next year!
