Explore a few trails that are TFNU Staff’s Fall Favorites

Sardine Peak Trail: Sardine Peak Trail in the fall is truly magical, with vibrant aspens turning golden against the backdrop of rugged mountains. The crisp air invigorates your hike as you delve into the rich tapestry of autumn colors. As you ascend, the sweeping views of the valley become the ultimate reward, showcasing nature's transformation. It's a perfect time for photography and enjoying the serene beauty of the changing landscape.

Where to start: Park in the Maples lot which is the lower lot at Snowbasin Resort. Parking is free.

About the Trail: 7.4 mile out and back trail with about 1,500 ft of elevation gain. It is rated as moderate and is a very popular trail for hikers and mountain bikers. Dogs are welcome.

Indian Trail: Indian Trail in the fall offers a stunning display of colorful foliage, with fiery reds and bright yellows contrasting against the deep greens of conifers. The panoramic views from the higher elevations provide the ultimate backdrop for capturing the beauty of the season.

Where to Start: There are two different trailheads you can start at.

-Coldwater Canyon Trailhead in Ogden Canyon. Smokey the Bear sign is by the parking pull out.

-22nd St Trailhead.

About Trail:8.4 mile trail out and back with 2,647 ft of elevation gain. Dogs are welcome.

Icebox Canyon Loop: Icebox Canyon Loop Trail in the fall is a hidden gem, showcasing a spectacular array of autumn colors. As you hike through the canyon, the towering cliffs and vibrant foliage create a stunning contrast. The trail meanders alongside babbling brooks, with leaves crunching underfoot, adding to the seasonal charm. You'll encounter the ultimate vistas at the junctions, where the landscape opens up to reveal sweeping views of Snowbasin Resort.

Where to Start: Art Nord Trailhead on Old Snowbasin Rd.

About Trail: 3 mile loop with about 515ft of elevation gain. This trail is a multi use trail for hikers, bikers, and horses. Dogs are welcome but asked to be kept on leash.
