Adaptive Trails

Adaptive Trails

Recently, Ogden Valley Adaptive Sports welcomed a new Executive Director, Alexander Davenport, from Arizona. He is incredibly passionate about making sports and outdoor lifestyles accessible for anyone - regardless of their skill level or modality. We’ve been fortunate enough to have gotten to know him recently and what the Foundation is looking to accomplish in Northern Utah.

This past week, our Executive Director, Aric W. Manning and our Board Chair, Mike Appleby, met with Ogden Valley Adaptive Sports along with our Trail Crew and our friends and trail users, John and Kristi who are both adaptive riders to see how we can learn ways of making the trails better for everyone - including people who use different types of adaptive bikes and chairs.

TFNU has an adaptive hiking chair that we were given through a generous grant through the Weber County School Foundation that we loan out to anyone who can use it - free of charge. (Call 801-393-2304 for details).

While it does take some work to make the trails ‘Adaptive Friendly’ it doesn’t take so much that it’s not worth looking into and that’s what we’re doing. We’ve applied for grants that - if awarded - will make it much easier for us to incorporate the accommodations, when possible, so that everyone can get out and enjoy the trails.
