TFNU’s mission is to plan, promote, construct, maintain and protect a network of public pathways, trails, and related open spaces for non-motorized users throughout Northern Utah.
Thanks to a generous donation of approximately 100 acres of property east of the top of 27th street to TFNU with the stipulation that it remain open space and be available to the general public. We are moving forward with the development of a top of the line community trailhead facility. This means that this property will never be developed for commercial use.
This area at the top of 27th street historically has acted as a non official access point to the trails of the East Bench of Ogden, including the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. As there is no official trailhead parking, cars historically have parked along 27th street and adjacent roads creating bottlenecks and disrupting adjacent land owners. We all understand the draw to live near the mountains and to have these amazing trails in our backyards.
Summer 2025 update - Phase 1 of this legacy project includes the instillation of a parking lot, trail head structure, as well as structures for small bike repairs, education areas, and more. TFNU has worked with engineers to come up with the plans for the parking lot areas and find the best spot on the land for a covered structure. This current plan allows for approximately 60 cars. Ground has been broken on the parking lot area and we are currently in the middle of construction. We hope to have the parking lot finished by the end of summer.
